Meet Beth and Paul…the business genius behind Case Custom Meats.  They’re also our neighbors and friends.

I’ve known these two crazy kids since they were just crazy kids.  Paul is the nephew of my college roommate and Beth was a state officer I helped coach.  So taking some engagement photos for them was a double honor.

As we laughed and joked through the session, I couldn’t help but marvel at the crazy twists and turns life took for all of us to bring us to this moment.  I’ve watched these two grow up, starting as standout 4-H and FFA members and taking on new leadership roles in college and as young adults.  And now, two decades later, I’m watching them grow something beautiful together.

I love that they’ve found each other through those twists and turns in life and have built this really amazing business, farm, life, and family with each other.

When serving in 4_H and FFA, Beth learned about what it means to be responsible, to step into new roles you’re given, and to grow.  She’s done all that and more with something infinitely more important than a leadership organization – she’s stepping into the role of wife and mom.

I firmly believe one of the hardest jobs on the planet is being a step-parent.  It’s a minefield of emotion.  And you have the responsibility of parenting, often without the authority or recognition you need to do it effectively.

Don’t get me wrong…parenting of any kind is hard.  But I have so much respect for the stepparents who know the path will be rocky and turbulent and take it on anyway.  Seeing Beth navigate the role of stepmom and doing it with joy and grace is beautiful to watch.

I sound so schmaltzy.  But it’s hard not to be happy and positive seeing Beth and Paul interact with each other during their engagement and family photos.  There were laughter and giggles and hugs and tenderness and so much love.

I don’t put a lot of stock in fate or the stars.  But seeing these two together, seeing the family they’ve built…well, it feels like there is a grander plan coming together.

Congratulations Paul and Beth!  I’m so glad she’s stealing your last name!

Can you combine engagement and family photos?

Sometimes, it just makes sense to combine two types of photography sessions.  Engagement and family photo sessions, or a family photo session and headshot session work well together.  After all, when dressed to kill and have gorgeous hair…make the most of it!  If you have an idea for a custom session, contact me today and we can discuss your ideas!
