Goshen County Engagement Session - Brandon and Katrina
The way to a woman’s heart? Treat her dog well.
That’s just one of a thousand reasons why I loved watching Brandon and Katrina during our absolutely crazy Goshen County Engagement Session earlier this summer. He loved on Avery the wonder dog as much as Katrina did. In those few moments with the beautiful silver lab, I could easily understand how Katrina fell in love with him. He was patient and sweet and a great care taker. All qualities you want in a future husband.
Of course, you can’t build an entire marriage exclusively on a mutual love of dogs. They also share a passion for teaching and a love of the land, being outdoors and this wide spot on the road we call Goshen County.
As long-time plains residents, Katrina and Brandon were completely unphased by the voracity of weather we experienced in our session.
It started with wind. Lots and lots of wind. Then a rainstorm. When I asked “Do you mind getting a little wet?” these two crazy kids bailed out of the truck without a second thought.
Then the clouds passed over us moved on toward Nebraska, and we were left with the most beautiful skies. And rainbows. I could not have planned it better if I tried. Beautiful subjects, a photogenic dog and a rainbow. It was basically just my job not to screw it up.
But Katrina and and Brandon aren’t really pretty rainbow or epic skies kind of people. They know those things are fleeting. These two are more the calm after the storm…down-to-earth, hard-working, genuine.
I love that these two people are teachers. They are exactly who I want helping to guide my own kiddo and give her values, morals and an education. They won’t let her cut any corners but they’ll love her unconditionally, too.
And I love that they’ve found each other. Someone to hunt with. Farm with. Share quiet conversation with as the sun slips down past the horizon each night. To me, that’s the very best kind of love because it’s real and it’s lasting.
Rainbows are temporary. But the sunsets are forever faithful.
Congratulations Katrina and Brandon. I’m blessed to witness the next step in your journey together.
